SAM TRAN

Hello! My name is Sam Tran and I currently play D1 softball in New York at Wagner College. I’m an outfielder and I slap and hit. I have been playing softball since I was 10 years old and slapping since I was 12 years old. Throughout my softball career, I’ve played all of the outfield positions. I grew up in San Ramon and went to Dougherty Valley High School. I made Varsity as freshman and ended my high school career with a .450 batting average as well as holding the doubles record. I also led the team in stolen bases and had a .980 fielding percentage. Outside of high school, I played on San Jose Sting, Sorcerers, and Cal Nuggets.

I am very excited to be part of the 008 training staff and working with an amazing staff. I can not wait to get to train future great softball athletes! My goal as a coach is to teach girls the fundamentals, softball IQ, as well as mental toughness. It’s important for athletes to know that even with good technique we must have a strong mental game. I want my athletes to feel confident in their skills and confident in themselves. As a coach, I will make lessons based specifically on the athletes needs and make sure they have my full attention. I understand every athlete is unique and has different learning styles and, I’m willing to meet those needs. I can not wait to get to teach these future softball stars and make sure they have fun along the way!
